Featherweight titlist Chris John of Indonesia was forced to postpone his title defense against Fernando Saucedo after suffering a shoulder injury, John's adviser, Sampson Lewkowicz, told ESPN.com.

John (43-0-2, 22 Kos) was scheduled to make the 13th defense of his 126-pound belt against Argentina's Saucedo (38-4-3, 1 KO) on May 22 in Bali. It would have been John's first fight in his home country since January 2008.

He is still waiting for a doctor's report on the severity of the injury, but plans to reschedule the bout, Lewkowicz said.

John has been out of action since he easily outpointed Rocky Juarez in a rematch in September in Las Vegas.

This is the second health issue to keep John out of the ring in recent months. John took an extended break after dengue fever landed him in the hospital in October.
