Caroline Wozniacki: Champion of the E-Boks Sony Ericsson Open,Copenhagen
Caroline Wozniacki claimed a place on the Road to Bali in the final of the E-Boks Sony Ericsson Open in Copenhagen.
Wozniacki added to the International Series title she won earlier this year in Ponte Vedra Beach by delighting her home fans with a 6-2 7-6 victory over a Czech opponent who was playing in her 10th career final. It was Wozniacki’s eighth career title, but she had to fight her way through a trio of three-setters before eventually overcoming Zakopalova in the final.
When you are the top seed, hometown favourite and the world number three you are always going to be a target for those hoping to claim an upset, and Iveta Benesova in the second round, Julia Goerges in the quarter-finals and Anna Chakvetadze in the semis all made Wozniacki battle hard for victory.
